Driverless taxis in Dubai can now be booked on Uber
The service that started in Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim has been on the Uber app since 20 August 2026.
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) started commercial operation of driverless taxis in Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah on 30 March 2026. The first phase has 100 vehicles; the partners are Apollo Go (Baidu) and WeRide.
Since 20 August 2026, riders who request UberX or Uber Comfort in these areas may be matched with a driverless Apollo Go vehicle. RTA has said the fleet will grow gradually.
Why it matters
Transport is one of the things that shape how easy it is to live and to rent in an area. For now the service is limited to two coastal neighbourhoods.
